This past week I moved into my lavish new loft in the University Village area of Chicago as I read news about the Israeli mass eviction from Gaza. I am amazed how things are put into perspective for me every day. Our development is directly next to the Barbara Jean Wright Courts, an affordable housing community amidst all the surrounding condos. Once in a while, I have to stop and think about how I live in one of the most segregated cities in the U.S. There has been an unbelievable real estate boom here in Chicago over the last several years, eliminating countless affordable housing in the city. I wonder where all these people go after they lose their homes. What happens to them?
