I was in Chinatown the day after Christmas and I went to a couple of the trinket stores where they sell bamboo, dragon figures and other knick knacks. I was specifically searching for two things, a statue of Quan Yin, the Bodhisattva of Compassion (It’s been a fascination of mine over the last several years to collect images of the Divine Feminine), and a Feng Shui crystal ball to hang on my window.
You may thing this is weird, but I don’t really care. I was just called to get them for some odd reason. I was on a mission. So I found them at this interesting little shop right on the corner of Wentworth and Cermak called Pacific Furniture, Inc. It’s a bit of a tight space to walk through and look browse around but they have a lot of interesting things, knick knacks ans such – and there is a really great Chinese/Filipina lady who works there who will tell you everything you need to know about each item. I would just walk in for the lesson in meanings behind certain Chinese symbols, especially things that pertain to feng shui, – it’s quite entertaining.
