I am posting this two weeks late, but better late than never. I participated in The Zohar Project, an initiative created by The Kabbalah Center, an organization whose sole mission is to remove pain and suffering in the world. And yes, it is the same Kabbalah Center that draws a lot of celebrities like Madonna and Ashton Kutcher, so don’t judge….they are people too 🙂
One thing the Zohar provides are donated Zohars to people who are open to receiving them. In the last we have donated Zohars to police departments, fire fighters, and hospitals.
Two weeks ago, a group of students, including myself, distributed zohars on the Main Street of the Chicago suburb of Cicero. It was quite a challenge for me, as sometimes rejection makes me feel uncomfortable when se people choose not to take the Zohar donation. But there’s so much joy and appreciating when someone does choose to take the Zohar donation. One moment that really stood out to me was when one student gave a Zohar to a women begging on the street. She started weeping because she was so moved by the gesture. He told her she was not alone. It was a very powerful experience for me. It’s those moments that remind me why I do what I do.
